My Dividend Capturing Strategy – Day 18 5/31/17

Day 18 brought a good day for the strategy. I had two stocks to sell and none to buy. Both brought profits. Let’s see how the day went: 1) Sold CHL (China Mobile) for $54.96. This represents a stock loss of $62.56 and I captured $108.80 in dividends for a net profit of $46.24. 2) Sold DTEGY (Deutsche Telekom) for $19.46. This represents a stock loss of $113.70 and I captured $250.14 in dividends for a net profit of $136.44. I’m glad that I unloaded DTEGY early because it dove downward all day and never recovered. Looking back with...

My Dividend Capturing Strategy – Day 17 5/30/17

After a nice, long weekend and one where we honored those who have served and those who are currently serving our country. My hat’s off to all who do. Today in the market, I sold one stock and bought two. Here’s what happened today: 1) Sold EFC (Ellington Financial) @ $16.57, $.30 less than I paid for it. The dividend is $.45 so on the 444 shares, netted $66.60 on the captured dividend. 2) Bought CHL (China Mobile) – 136 shares @ $55.42. The dividend to be captured is $108.80. The stock ended the day at $55.56 so I’m...

My Dividend Capturing Strategy – Memorial Day Edition

I hope each and all of you had a great Memorial Day and remembered those who gave it all so we can live in this great country. Thanks to all of those who served or who have served in the armed forces. Now, since the markets weren’t open, all I had to do today was to prepare for tomorrow. If you remember, I bought two stocks (EFC and NYLD) on Friday but NYLD rose above my dividend capture amount so, according to my rules (rule #17), I sold it for a nice profit. Tomorrow, I will look to sell...

My Dividend Capturing Strategy – Week 3 wrap-up

This is a new series of posts for weekly wrap-ups as I haven’t given a wrap-up before today. This will give you a chance to see how the full week went as far as trades and, most importantly, profit! Monday was completely dead as I had nothing to buy or sell. Sometimes, my screener just doesn’t give me a stock to buy. That’s ok because I would rather not have anything than buy the wrong stock. Tuesday, I purchased only one stock – BNPQY. Since I had no stocks already bought from the day before, I had nothing to...

My Dividend Capturing Strategy – Day 16 5/26/17

Today ended with a great profit using this strategy. It was the second best day (best day – 5/16/17 +$223.98) for the three weeks into this strategy. Today, I had 4 stocks to sell and 2 to buy (sorry, I forgot to mention them in the post from yesterday but more on that later). Here’s what happened today: 1) Sold BEP (Brookfield Renewable Partners) for $31.58. The stock loss was -$109.51 and the captured dividend was $109.51. I sold it for exactly the amount of the dividend – $.47. Broke even at $0.00. 2) Sold NEWT (Newtek Business Services)...
